Linda, hailing from Gothenburg, had a strong desire to find travel companions who shared her passion for exploring the world. Her quest led her to Hanna, a fellow adventurer, on Gofrendly. Together, they embarked on a journey to the USA and ended up forging a friendship that would last a lifetime. “The closest bond I’ve gained from this experience is by far the most rewarding,” Linda joyfully expresses.
The journey began in April of this year when Linda decided to seek out travel companions. Gofrendly was the platform where she crossed paths with Hanna, who shared her enthusiasm for travel and was eager to find travel buddies for the summer—a perfect match for Linda. Little did they know just how well they would connect.
Linda continues, “We met for a coffee and instantly realized how similar we were.” The wheels were set in motion. Following their initial coffee meeting, Hanna and Linda continued to meet regularly, meticulously planning their upcoming adventure. They discussed the type of vacation they desired, budget considerations, and before long, they both agreed on exploring the American West Coast. In mid-June, their journey became a reality.
Linda reflects on the experience, “The trip was absolutely amazing, one of the best I’ve ever been on.” Hours of driving and conversing became an unexpected pleasure, allowing them to truly get to know each other. Linda is thrilled with the lifelong friend she has found through this adventure.
Traveling with someone new can be nerve-wracking. Linda, despite her immediate connection with Hanna, confesses to pre-departure jitters—something she deems quite different from traveling with long-time friends. She explains, “Before setting off, you’re filled with excitement and a touch of uncertainty, fearing things might not go as planned.”
Fortunately, their journey unfolded smoothly. The pair discovered an ease in making compromises and had a shared budget, both of which contributed to the success of their trip.
Linda firmly believes that finding new friends through the app has enriched her life and is convinced that many others are in a similar position to her, seeking friends for specific purposes. She advises, “It’s important to move away from the notion that one person should fulfill all your needs. Relationships are an ongoing journey, and I recently met another friend through the app with whom I’ll be dancing salsa. I love meeting new people.”
She encourages others to take a chance, saying, “I’m genuinely glad I did.”
This Christmas, Linda and Hanna will embark on another journey together, though the destination remains undecided. Possibilities include Singapore or South America, but Linda is convinced that their seamless travel partnership must lead to more shared memories.
